A few weeks back on my Facebook page,  I said I’d have news for fans of Madeleine L’Engle.

A little later, I posted that I’d soon be reporting on a new film based on a book by one of my favorite writers.

Well… are you ready?

Today, Christianity Today has posted my story about the making of the first feature-length film based on a Madeleine L’Engle novel: Camilla Dickinson.

I’ve seen the film. There was a sneak preview at Seattle Pacific University. I enjoyed it, especially for certain strong points that we rarely experience anymore in films about young people: thoughtful conversations, a sense of wonder, attention to questions about the existence of God, nuanced portrayals of complicated characters, and a restraint from demonizing any of the “difficult” characters.

Also, those who are familiar with L’Engle’s own life story will get the sense that this film — this story — is fully invested with her voice and perspective.

I hope it finds a good distributor.
